You must be wondering why we need to have a specific car seat for a baby or a child. Aren’t the seat belts in the car safe enough?

In a crash at just 50kmph (30mph), an unrestrained child would be thrown forward with a force 30 to 60 times their body weight. They would be thrown about inside the vehicle, injuring themselves and quite possibly seriously injuring (or even killing) other people inside the vehicle. They are also likely to be ejected from the car through one of the windows.

It is not safe to hold a child on your lap (DON'T EVER DO THAT!! ). In a crash, the child could be crushed between your body and part of the car's interior. Even if you are using a seat belt, the child would be torn from your arms - you would not be able to hold onto them, no matter how hard you try.

It is also dangerous to put a seat belt around yourself and a child (or around two children). It is also a 'double trouble' (if you know what I mean) to let your children unrestrained and worst enough standing in the car. Woo..that is really dangerous!! Please be SMART parents!

The safest way for children to travel in cars is in a child seat that is suitable for their weight and size.

Don’t give a lousy and lame excuses, that you don’t have enough money to buy a safe car seat for your child while you keep on enjoying meals in fancy restaurant or buy branded jeans/dresses or handbags that cost you hundreds of ringgit. The investment that you made for a car seat is the ONLY thing that can save your child during an accident.

Go on surfing in the internet or you tube. Look for child car seat test, watch it and you’ll know why car seat for a child is a MUST. No jokes, it’s a matter between LIFE or DEATH!
